ESRI released some new blend modes that one can use in ArcGIS Pro, which I have been playing around with. These blend modes allow for far greater control over the appearance of layers as the user can change the feel of the map by changing how colours and textures between layers are displayed. Using blend modes is also a lot of fun!
While playing around, I created this map of Switzerland and tried to emphasise the Alps by using aerial imagery combined with a topobathy hillshade, which is blended using the overlay function.
